University of Sussex Representative Shares Postgraduate Study Options with XMUM Students

On 23 October 2018, Ms Lilian ChuaLilian Chua, Regional Manager of University of Sussex visited Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) to share about opportunities the students can gain if they choose to pursue postgraduate study at University of Sussex. Sussex is ranked 39th in the world for Media and Communication, Geography and Politics and 50th for Business and Economics, according to Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2018-19.

XMUM Students Stand Out in International College Students’ Entrepreneurship Invitational Competition

Two teams of students representing Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) were selected to compete at the finals of 2018 International College Student’ Entrepreneurship Invitational Competitionon 19 October 2018 and came home with one bronze medal. Held in Zhejiang University China, the competition was specially set up for international elite universities and outstanding youths, having attracted teams from some of the world’s top universities, such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA), Stanford University (USA), and National University of Singapore.

2018 Marine Biology & Biotechnology Summer Exchange Program Held at XMUM

An exchange program between Xiamen University China (XMU) and Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) focusing on Marine Biology and Biotechnology was held from 28 July to 4 August 2018. During the exchange, a total of 15 students and 3 instructors from College of Ocean & Earth Sciences, XMU were hosted by staff and students of China-ASEAN College of Marine Sciences (CAMS) at XMUM. Staff and students from both campuses interacted closely during the exchange program and collaborated in a range of learning activities.

XMUM Students Conduct Summer Research at China’s Top Universities

While the student traffic across Bandar Sunsuria was much lighter over the month of September (school break for XMUM undergraduates), three XMUM students spent their summer doing internship in research laboratories at China’s top universities, thanks to the facilitation and kind arrangement of Professor Ong Chong Kim. The research attachments aimed to help the students, all from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, to get hands-on experience and develop new scientific insights from world-renown laboratories.
