Two teams from SEM named among the Top 10 Finalists in Unilever Future Leaders' League Malaysia 2023
The School of Economics and Management is proud to share that its two teams have made it to the Top 10 finalists in the highly competitive Unilever Future Leaders' League Malaysia 2023, surpassing over 100 participating teams. The final round of the competition was held on Friday, 5th May 2023.The participating students in the first winning team, Team Ace, are Wong Pei Yi (IBU), Chuan Carl Lok (IBU), and Tan Zhi Han (IBU).The participating students in the second winning team, Team Creators, are Cai Zhidan (ACC), Li Runyi (ACC), and Wu Zhijing (ACC).

Dr Sun Xia’s Guest Lecture about “Growing with China’s Reform: Experience of Doing Business Inside and Outside China”
Dr Sun was invited by the School of Economics and Management, Xiamen University Malaysia to give a guest lecture for the course “Business and the Economy of China” under Prof Wang PeiMing on 8 May 2023. She shared her personal experience of doing business both domestically and internationally since China began its economic reform. In her talk, Dr Sun discussed how to improve individual abilities in a constantly changing environment, and seize various opportunities with an international perspective.

XMUM Participants Win Best Presentation Award at 8th International Conference on Computer and Communication Systems
The School of Computing and Data Science congratulates Zheng Peng, Chen Yanhao and Dr. Burra Venkata Durga Kumar from Software Engineering Programme for receiving the best presentation award at the 8th International Conference on Computer and Communication Systems.Entitled “Regional Intelligent Traffic Signal Control System Based on Multi-agent Deep Reinforcement Learning”, this research focused on urban traffics congestion, aiming to improve the efficiency of vehicle traffic and ease traffic congestion in the road network.

Dr. Iffat Ali Aksar from Department of Journalism and Advertising Publishes SSCI Q1 Paper
Research and Postgraduate Centre congratulates Asst. Prof. Dr. Iffat Ali Aksar from the Department of Journalism and Advertising published an article entitled “Small world sampling: Qualitative sample reliability and validity for efficient and effective recruitment of journalists as research participants” in the journal Journalism (SSCI Q1, IF:3.194). Dr. Aksar is the corresponding author and this is a collaborative work with Associate Prof. Dr. Amira Firduas from the Department of Communication Studies, Universiti Malaya.

The School of Energy and Chemical Engineering (SECE) has held its Dean’s List, Final Year Project, and Capstone Project Award Ceremony for the 2022/09 semester on 18 April 2023, to recognize the academic achievements of undergraduate students from the New Energy Science and Engineering and Chemical Engineering programmes.
