On 6th March 2026, the Photography Society successfully organized a comprehensive Photography and Editing Workshop. Held across the A5 blocks and the tennis courts, the event provided a welcoming space for participants to explore the fundamentals of visual storytelling.

The day was split into two high-impact sessions. The morning session featured a hands-on photoshoot headlined by renowned photographer Mr. Eric Lee. Participants utilized professional SONY cameras and GODOX lighting to capture three live talents across diverse themes: Active Youth, Floral Whimsy, and Classroom Portrait. In the afternoon, the focus shifted to the digital darkroom, where students mastered professional retouching techniques using Adobe Lightroom.

Beyond technical skills, the workshop served as a hub for networking. The society was pleased to host the PhotoJam committees, engaging in a campus tour and a networking session to strengthen ties within the creative community.

"This workshop was designed to bridge the gap between technical skill and creative vision," noted the organizing committee. By the end of the day, participants left with a few more skills in their toolkit and a shared passion for the art of photography.

On 6 March 2026, Xiamen University Business Association (XMBA) organized a “Member
Bonding” event on school grounds. This event convened 27 members which consist mainly
Malaysian and Indonesian to foster a strong bond between the committee board of XMBA
and its members.

“Member Bonding” connects committees and members through a series of games and
team-based activities. It provides a platform for committees and members work together
and interact more throughout the event, enabling them to become better acquainted with
one another.

This event emphasizes not just on strengthening member bonding and engagement but also
enhance member’s strategic decision-making skills and apply business knowledge in a
practical setting. “Learning while playing is what I enjoyed the most. I’m excited for future
events!” — participant feedback.

The event concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation from members, creating a
lively and engaging atmosphere while strengthening friendships and fostering a stronger
sense of unity within the XMBA community.

On 28th February and 1st March 2026 (Saturday and Sunday), 170 speedcubers across Malaysia and all around the world gathered at the Multipurpose Hall, Xiamen University Malaysia, to compete in XMUM Cube Open 2026 (XCO26).

Competitive speedcubing is a sport that involves solving a Rubik's cube or other twisty puzzles as quickly as possible. This competition was organised by the XMUM Rubik’s Club’s XCO26 Organising Committee, and officially sanctioned under the WCA (World Cube Association) with the support of the Malaysia Cube Sports Association (MYCSA). The main sponsor of the competition was MoYu Culture, a leading manufacturer of a wide variety of high-quality twisty puzzles.

For XMUM Cube Open 2026, competitors competed across a total of 13 different official events, which are: 3x3x3 Cube, 2x2x2 Cube, 4x4x4 Cube, 5x5x5 Cube, 6x6x6 Cube, 7x7x7 Cube, 3x3x3 Blindfolded, 3x3x3 One-Handed, Clock, Megaminx, Pyraminx, Skewb, and Square-1. This competition also featured booths where competitors can compete in mini-challenges, giving them the chance to win an exciting prize from a lucky draw.

At the end of the day, Zijian Cai, a speedcuber from China, won the main event of the competition – 3x3x3 Cube – with an average of 7.07 seconds. In addition to this, several new National Records were achieved by several professional competitors of different nationalities. During the award ceremony, the top three competitors for each event were awarded a medal, a certificate, and a sponsored prize from MoYu Culture.

All in all, XCO26 turned out to be a major success – attracting many top speedcubers and familiar names from all over Malaysia, China, Indonesia, Germany, South Korea, Turkmenistan, United States and more. The XCO team, along with XMUM Rubik’s Club, will continue to push out better events in the years to come, with the aim of fostering meaningful connections and building memorable experiences for all participants.
