Titled “Prediction of Crowdfunding Success in Malaysia Using Quality Signaling Theory and Machine Learning”, the study examines factors associated with the success of reward-based crowdfunding campaigns in Malaysia, based on data from 728 projects on MyStartr. It combines Quality Signaling Theory with machine learning to identify factors that can help predict crowdfunding success.
The study identified the number of supporters, median pledge amount, target fundraising amount, and project updates as key factors in crowdfunding success, with Random Forest achieving the strongest predictive performance among the seven algorithms evaluated.
