School of Computing and Data Science Discusses Collaboration with MSTB
School of Computing and Data Science, Xiamen University Malaysia hosted a strategic meeting on 20 August 2025 with the Malaysian Software Testing Board (MSTB), to explore potential collaboration in Software Testing and Requirement Engineering.Dr. Chandra Reka, Head of Programme for Software Engineering at XMUM, led the session. Representing MSTB were Prof. Madya Dr. Rozilawati, Director of MSTB; Norazura Md Saad, MSTB representative; and Pn. Norlida, Financial Controller at MSTB.

XMUM Student Advances to Global Finals of International Quant ChampionshipTan Kang, a first-year Robotics and Automation Engineering student at Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM), has secured a place in the Global Finals of the 2025 International Quant Championship (IQC) as the only participant representing Malaysia.Competing as a solo participant, he earned his position after outperforming other 1,200 Malaysian teams in the national round.
XMUM MBA Students Explore Business and Innovation in Shenzhen and Hong Kong
From 4 to 9 August 2025, the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme at Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) organized its annual China Study Trip, visiting Shenzhen and Hong Kong.The trip, which involved 35 participants, including MBA students, alumni, faculty, and staff, was designed to give attendees a firsthand look at the business and innovation landscapes of the Greater Bay Area (GBA), a region known for its economic and technological influence.
XMUM Students Excel in International Medical Innovation Competition
Students from the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine (STCM), Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM), won one Gold, one Silver, and one Bronze Award at the 11th China Undergraduate Medical Innovation Tournament & The Belt and Road International Competition Grand Finals, held from 16–18 August 2025 at Shandong University, Jinan, China.
CAMS Team Wins Silver at SynBio Challenges 2025
Three students from the China-ASEAN College of Marine Sciences (CAMS), Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) - Xiong Yuchen, Zheng Jingyuan, and Mao Lingzhe (led by Dr. Steven Aw Yoong Kit) - won the Silver Award at the SynBio Challenges 2025.The team was guided by Prof. Dr. Yeap Swee Keong, Dr. Yong Chean Yeah, and Dr. Steven Aw Yoong Kit, with sponsorship from Suntar International Group through the Suntar-CAMS Sustainability Research Laboratory.
XMUM Signs MoU for Cellulose Nanofiber Research
Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NanoMalaysia Berhad (NMB), SEED Tech Sdn Bhd (STSB), and Henan Yujian Building Renovation Technology Co. Ltd. (YJ) on 1 August 2025. The agreement aims to explore the conversion of agricultural waste into cellulose nanofibers (CNF) for industrial applications.
