SCDS Honors Top Achievers and Outstanding Staff in 2025
The School of Computing and Data Science (SCDS) at Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) marked the start of the 2026/04 semester with a School Meeting on 17 April 2026, celebrating academic excellence among its staff and students. The event recognised outstanding achievements from the 2025/09 semester and the past academic year through the presentation of the Top Achiever Award and the Annual Outstanding Award.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Jian Ping and Team Publish in Journal of Environmental Management
The Research and Postgraduate Centre congratulates Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Jian Ping, Adjunct Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vincent Woon Kok Sin and postgraduate students, Kyle Sebastian Mulya and Malvin, from the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering and Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Technologies for Agricultural Advancement and a Zero-Waste Economy (STARGAZE) on their recent research publication in Journal of Environmental Management, an SCIE Q1 journal with a latest impact factor of 8.4.

XMUM Student Wins Second Runner-Up at Creative Tech Competition
The School of Computing and Data Science (SCDS) at Xiamen University Malaysia congratulates Renee Chin Wei Wen and her final year project (FYP) supervisor, Dr. Ahmad Affandi Supli, on winning Second Runner-Up at the Malaysia Creative Tech Competition 2026.Their project, EcoWorld, distinguished itself among 87 submissions from 23 institutions nationwide, marking an outstanding achievement that brings pride to the School and the University.

The Research and Postgraduate Centre congratulates PhD candidate Joel Foo Jie, Prof. Dr. Ong Wee Jun, and their research team from the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering and the Center of Excellence for NaNo Energy & Catalysis (CONNECT) on their recent publication in Applied Catalysis B: Environment and Energy. With a latest Impact Factor of 21.1, Applied Catalysis B: Environment and Energy is a highly prestigious scientific journal renowned for featuring world-class research in environmental and sustainable sciences.

On 10 April 2026, Dr. Chua Thia Eng, an expert in coastal and ocean governance and the first Regional Programme Director for the Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia (PEMSEA), visited Xiamen University Malaysia, where he delivered a knowledge-sharing session and participated in a book donation ceremony.
