30 XMUM Students Volunteered at CIFIT 2019
30 student volunteers from Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) were highly praised for their outstanding performance at China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) 2019, which was held from 8 to 11 September 2019 in Xiamen, China. One of the world's largest international events promoting trade and investment, this year’s CIFIT has attracted over 100,000 domestic and foreign businessmen and more than 3,000 enterprises from 120 countries and regions, including 50 countries and regions along the Belt and Road Initiative.
Over 900 New Students Join XMUM in September 2019
Over 900 new students joined Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM)’s September 2019 intake. With their arrival, the total enrollment of the university exceeds 5,000.
XMUM Held Its First Alumni Gathering
Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) held its first official alumni gathering on 28 September 2019, the same day of its Inaugural Convocation Ceremony. It marked the launch of its Student Alumni Office, which was officially established after the pioneer cohort graduated from XMUM.
Inaugural Convocation Celebrated at XMUM
Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) held its Inaugural Convocation Ceremony in the newly-furbished Auditorium on 28 September 2019. More than 1,000 students, parents, faculty, staff and guests attended the event.
Two XMUM Faculty Members Receive Private Education Excellence Awards 2019
Research Management Center congratulates Prof. Huang Nay Ming and Assoc. Prof. Ong Wee Jun from School of Energy and Chemical Engineering on receiving Private Education Excellence Awards from Private Education Cooperative of Malaysia (Educoop). Prof. Huang Nay Ming and Assoc. Prof. Ong Wee Jun were awarded the National Outstanding Researcher Award (Material Science) and National Outstanding Reviewer Award (Nanotechnology), respectively.
XMUM Champions the Green Technovation Challenge 2019
The Green Technovation Challenge 2019 held on 18 September saw a team of XMUM School of Energy and Chemical Engineering students raised as the champion. Comprised of 5 students from New Energy Science and Technology Programme (Douglas Yeo Jing Zhi, Hoy Zheng Xuan, Lim Jin Yang, Phuang Zhen Lim and Tan Khai Yang), the team named TITAN defeated 13 teams from 8 other universities and won the 1st prize in the challenge.They received a prize of RM5,000 while UKM and Quest University achieved 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
