The Chinese Studies programme is one of the earliest programmes established at Xiamen University Malaysia. Since its inception, it has inherited the excellent traditions of Xiamen University and benefited from the outstanding faculty of the Chinese Studies, History and Philosophy departments of the main campus. During their studies, students gain a broad and deep understanding of Chinese language, literature, history, philosophy, and culture. They are also able to apply the knowledge they have acquired flexibly in research and professional practice. The unique bilingual environment (English and Chinese) at the branch campus fosters students' cross-cultural communication skills and their ability to adapt to multicultural and diverse societies.

The Department of Chinese Studies actively organizes various academic and career-oriented lectures, and it has established a departmental journal, <Yingming> and published literary magazines such as <Rushi>. These activities broaden students' academic horizons and prepare them for their future careers.

Graduates of the Chinese Studies programme have good employment prospects in education, media, cultural institutions, and business sectors. Academically, they can choose to pursue graduate studies at Xiamen University's main campus, as well as at other renowned universities in China and around the world. They can also choose to continue their master's and doctoral studies at the branch campus.
