With the theme of “Towards Zero Food Waste”, this competition aims to increase public awareness of food waste and its impact on environmental sustainability. The participants were required to submit an impactful, educational, and self-explanatory A2-size poster along with a short write-up to present their ideas behind the poster design.

Chew Zhi Ling’s poster focuses on the topic “Share food, not waste food”. As she put in the write-up, “Buy only foods that we can finish to minimize food waste and save money. Any leftovers can be either shared with those in need, stored properly for later consumption, or composted to achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs). The earth is to make the contrast between the positive sides of sharing food (zero food waste) and the negative impacts of wasting food. Food wastes will go to landfill and emit greenhouse gases, causing environmental pollution and climate change.”
