​The School of Economics and Management Student Council (SEMSC) successfully organised its inaugural school-wide orientation event, MonopoliSEM, on 19 October 2025, under the advisorship of Dr. Liu Lingzi and Dr. Tan Khar Mang.

Adopting the theme of Monopoly, MonopoliSEM provided an innovative and interactive platform for new students to engage with their peers and senior students in a supportive and informative environment. The programme combined elements of fun and learning through a series of structured activities, including welcoming performances featuring traditional and modern acts by talented XMUM students, as well as ice-breaking sessions, game stations, and other engaging activities.

The orientation engaged over 200 participants, including SEMSC members, facilitators, game masters, and new students from all four academic programmes offered under SEM (Accounting, E-Commerce, Finance, and International Business). In line with SEM’s diverse and international learning environment, participants represented a wide range of nationalities, including Malaysia, China, Indonesia, Myanmar, Russia, Vietnam, Zambia, Kenya, Tunisia, Yemen, Bahrain, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and others.
