Innovation Talk Series #8 From Synthetic to Natural Materials
Innovation Talk Series #8 was held on 10 July 2019 by Innovation Center to introduce the application of synthetic and natural materials in the industry to XMUM students and staff. Prof. Frank Alexis, who currently serves as Vice Chancellor of Research and Innovation in Yachay Tech University, Ecuador, was invited as the guest speaker. He is also the founder of BiodiverSource, and Chief Scientific Officer of GearJump Technologies.
XMUM Students Benefit from the Coaching Session for the Upcoming “Internet+” Competition
XMUM Innovation Center organized a coaching session on 23 June 2019 for students who are participating in the 5th China's Internet+ College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. Three experts - Mr. Jiang Nan, Mr. Yao Jinxin and Mr. Yao Jincheng - were invited to share their valuable opinions towards XMUM students’ entrepreneurship ideas as well astheir projects.
Exploring Water World: China-ASEAN College of Marine Sciences Seminar Series
A delegation led by Prof.Dai Minhan, Academician of Chinese Academy of Science visited Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) on 26 June 2019 to hold a seminar themed Water World: the Way to Go, during which five inspirational talks were delivered by speakers from different areas of expertise to XMUM staff and students.
XMUM Student Wins Second Prize in Jingrun Cup Mathematics Competition
Hong Khay Boon, a first-year student from XMUM Mathematics and Applied Mathematics Programme, won second prize in the 16th Jingrun Cup Mathematics Competition (Professional Group) held by School of Mathematical Sciences, Xiamen University.
XMUM Co-Organizes the 3rd South China Sea Conference
During 24 to 28 June 2019, China-ASEAN College of Marine Sciences, Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) co-organized the 3rd South China Sea Conference (SCS 2019) with the Institute of Ocean and Earth Sciences (IOES), University of Malaya (UM) and the First Institute of Oceanography (FIO) of the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) China. Held at Eastin Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, this conference provided a fruitful platform for discussion and exchange related to research activities in the South China Seas and promoted academic cooperation among marine scientists all over the world.
Journalism Students Win Four Awards in "Wonderful World" Media Art Exhibition
Earlier this month, three students from XMUM Journalism Programme made the university proud by winning four awards at 3rd Wonderful World International Student Public Welfare Media Art Exhibition in Shanghai.Concurrently held in Malaysia and China, this event attracted a number of aspiring students from 30 universities across 13 countries to produce videos or animations with the theme of “Human and Animal”.
