General Requirements

To be eligible for outbound student mobility programmes, students must:

  • Have completed at least one year of undergraduate study at XMUM.

  • Attain a minimum CGPA of 3.0/4.0.

  • Meet the English language proficiency requirements set by the partner university.

How to Apply

  1. Email the Global Engagement and Partnerships Office at globalep@xmu.edu.my to express your interest in outbound mobility opportunities.
  2. Our team will review your academic eligibility and guide you through the application or nomination process based on the requirements of the selected partner university.
  3. You may be required to submit the following documents:
    • Updated official result slip

    • Proof of English language proficiency (e.g., IELTS, TOEFL)
    • Copy of passport (valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended study period)
    • Academic reference (if required by the partner university)
  4. If you wish to transfer the credits earned abroad back to XMUM, you are strongly encouraged to consult your faculty or academic advisor on course selection before applying. Credit transfer is not automatic, and you will need to submit a formal application. Approval is subject to your faculty’s review and discretion.
  5. Once XMUM confirms your eligibility, you will proceed to apply directly to the partner university. The Global Engagement and Partnerships Office will assist you throughout this process.
  6. Upon receiving an offer letter from the partner university, you will need to make the necessary preparations, including visa application, travel arrangements, accommodation, and other logistics.
  7. Students are advised to begin the application process at least 5-6 months before the intended semester abroad, as some universities have early deadlines. For example, for a September intake, the application deadline is typically in late April or early May.

Other Universities

Students who are interested in applying to non-partner universities for study abroad opportunities may also contact the Global Engagement and Partnerships Office for further advice. Please note that such requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and students are expected to manage the application process independently.
