XMUM Launches "Global Hybrid Classroom" with Cross-Border Aerobics Session
On 18 December 2025, Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) launched its "Global Hybrid Classroom" initiative with an Aerobics Dance Class, connecting 15 students in Malaysia with instructors and peers from the School of Art of Beijing Sports University and The First Hospital of Tsinghua University.
Aiming to provide students with access to high-quality educational resources across borders, the session featured a "Sports + Medicine" curriculum with two instructors. Prof. Wang Hong, Head Coach of the Chinese National Aerobics Team and Vice President of the FIG Aerobics Technical Committee, guided students through professional dance techniques. Prof. Li Fei, specialist in Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at The First Hospital of Tsinghua University and Associate Professor at the School of Clinical Medicine, provided real-time guidance to ensure safety and prevent injuries.
The XMUM IT Department, together with Rocware Technology, delivered a high-definition, low-latency connection that enabled real-time interaction between students and instructors. Participants described the experience as immersive and engaging, noting that the "zero distance" atmosphere made it feel as if the instructors were physically present in the room.
Looking ahead, XMUM plans to expand the initiative through regular partnerships with top international universities, making real-time, hybrid learning a standard part of the student experience.
