School of Traditional Chinese Medicine Conducts First Practical and Clinical Examinations
In line with the accreditation standards set by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at Xiamen University Malaysia held its first official Objective Structured Practical Examination (OSPE) and Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE).
These examinations serve to enhance the students’ practical skills and ensure compliance with MQA's stringent quality assurance requirements.
On 20 December 2024, the OSPE was conducted for the Chinese Materia Medica course, focusing on assessing students' proficiency in identifying herbs. This hands-on assessment is crucial for ensuring that students can accurately recognize medicinal herbs, a fundamental skill for practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

A week later, on 27 December 2024, the OSCE for TCM Internal Medicine assessed students' understanding of clinical conditions, their ability to integrate Western diagnostic techniques with TCM syndrome differentiation, and their skills in conducting physical examinations on patients. This examination not only tested their grasp of traditional Chinese medical theories but also evaluated their competence in applying Western diagnostic methods effectively in clinical practice.
