STCM Hosts Third Mobility Programme with Yunnan University of Chinese Medicine

Published on February 13, 2026

The School of Traditional Chinese Medicine (STCM) recently completed its third mobility programme in collaboration with students from Yunnan University of Chinese Medicine (YUCM). The programme welcomed two undergraduate students for a six-week period (7 November 2025 – 27 December 2025) and four postgraduate students for eleven weeks (7 November 2025 – 24 January 2026), offering them a comprehensive introduction to TCM education and practice in Malaysia.

During their stay, the students attended classes alongside STCM peers and took part in academic activities designed to enrich their learning experience. A key feature of the programme was the flexibility given to participants in shaping their academic exposure. They were able to choose from both Traditional Chinese Medicine and general elective courses according to their individual learning interests, allowing for broader interdisciplinary engagement and a more personalised educational journey.

In addition to on-campus learning, the programme included various study visits and cultural activities. Highlights included a tour of the Historical Museum of TCM Malaysia, a Kuala Lumpur city excursion, an educational visit to a local herbal garden, as well as trips to Eu Yan Sang Pharmaceutical Factory and Alpha IVF & Women's Specialists. The students also had the opportunity to meet with Prof. Cheah Kok Kay, a renowned physician specialising in TCM Ophthalmology.

Zhang Yaxing from YUCM said: "Beyond systematically studying the courses arranged for us, the different classroom atmosphere reshaped my understanding of what I had previously learned. Through debate sessions, presentations, clinical observations with lecturers, and visits to TCM Centres and museums, I experienced the real value of TCM practice."

The undergraduate students concluded their programme with a closing ceremony on 18 December 2025, followed by the postgraduate cohort on 24 January 2026.
