2026 Spring Conference on China's Macroeconomic Forecasting and Analysis Held at XMUM

From 17 to 18 April 2026, the 2026 Spring Conference on China's Macroeconomic Forecasting and Analysis & Symposium on China–World Economic and Trade Relations Outlook was successfully held at Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM).

The conference was jointly organized by several leading research institutions, including XMU Centre for Macroeconomic Research and the Paula and Gregory Chow Institute for Studies in Economics, the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science (AMSS) Centre for Forecasting Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and Xiamen University Malaysia.

The symposium brought together leading academics, economists, policymakers, and industry specialists to present research and discuss developments in global economic cooperation, international trade, and macroeconomic forecasting.

The opening ceremony was officiated by Ms. Li Shumin, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Association of Development Strategy Studies & Silver Economy Service Branch of China Association of Social Welfare and Senior Service. Welcome addresses were delivered by YB Tuan Sim Tze Tzin, Malaysia's Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry; Prof. Dr. Wang Ruifang, President of XMUM; and Prof. Dr. Hong Yongmiao, Dean of the School of Economics and Management at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Director of the Paula and Gregory Chow Institute for Studies in Economics at XMU.

The symposium featured 11 plenary sessions and six parallel sessions, alongside high-impact keynote addresses and plenary presentations delivered by renowned global experts in economics. Delegates engaged in in-depth analytical discussions on international industrial pathways, economic resilience, and trade strategies. Notably, significant attention was devoted to the integration of emerging technologies, such as big data and artificial intelligence, in reshaping contemporary macroeconomic forecasting and economic modelling.
