On 19 December 2025, Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) hosted a benchmarking visit from Swinburne University of Technology, Sarawak Campus. The visit focused on undergraduate programmes in software engineering, computer science, and information and communication technology.

During the visit, representatives from both institutions discussed programme learning outcomes, curriculum design, teaching practices, assessment strategies, and quality assurance processes. Individual courses were reviewed in terms of industrial relevance, assessment methods, and student learning time. The discussions also covered challenges and potential solutions, highlighting areas where the programmes share common goals. 

The exchanges further explored potential areas for future collaboration, including joint research initiatives such as collaborative grant applications and opportunities for joint postgraduate supervision. Both parties expressed mutual interest in strengthening academic ties through sustained engagement, knowledge sharing, and collaborative activities that would benefit staff and students from both institutions.
