General Information

School of Computing and Data Science was established at Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) in 2016 to provide core computing programmes. It is an important interdisciplinary faculty within the university, striving to develop into a centre of excellence, particularly in today’s information-driven era.  Currently, the School offers five undergraduate programmes, one master’s programme, and one PhD programme.

The school has established extensive ties through academic exchange and cooperation with many world-renowned universities and enterprises. The School has extensive collaborations with certification bodies such as the Huawei ICT Academy and the Alibaba Cloud Academic Empowerment Programme. These collaborations empower students and staff to stay abreast of cutting-edge technologies. Through these partnerships, learners gain access to industry-recognised training and professional certification pathways. They also help strengthen the School’s alignment with current industry needs, enhancing graduates’ competitiveness in the job market.

The School promotes knowledge sharing and transfer by appointing numerous internationally and domestically renowned scholars as visiting scholars, external examiners, and honorary professors. These experts contribute fresh perspectives and specialised expertise that enrich the academic environment. Their engagement also fosters strong academic networks and collaborative opportunities for both staff and students.

Our academic programmes equip graduates with the skills needed to pursue careers in computer science, information and communication technology, multimedia, cybersecurity, data science, and other IT-related fields. The curriculum is designed to balance theoretical foundations with hands-on practical experience. Students also have opportunities to work on real-world projects and industry collaborations that enhance their professional readiness.
