Biography

Grown up in Taiwan, educated in USA, worked in Australia, Singapore, Japan, and now teaching in Malaysia, Professor Mike Leu has equipped himself with plenty of experience in the Asia Pacific region. He is a Professor in the School of Economics and Management, Xiamen University Malaysia. Prior to teaching in XMUM, he taught in Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University for 5 years, Nanyang Technological University for 16 years and worked as a Principle Research Officer with the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics for 4 years. While in NTU, he has also served as the Director for the Mandarin Executive Training Programme and the Deputy Director for the Msc (ME) programme (dubbed as “the Chinese Mayor’s Programme”).

His research interests are in international trade and finance, economic development and sustainable development, globalization and co-opetition as well as the political economy of East Asia. Professor Mike Leu obtained his first degree from the National Taiwan University. He was also awarded his MA and PhD from the University of California at Berkeley.
