Biography

Dr Faizah Shahudin is a Deputy Head of Programme for Bachelor of Management in International Business and Assistant Professor for the School of Economics and Management, Xiamen University, Malaysia. She received her PhD in Agricultural Economics from the University Putra Malaysian and Msc. International Economics & Finance from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom. She has been teaching at several private universities in Malaysia for the past 19 years. She was also working in the field of Marketing and Business Development unit in the oil and gas company before embarking into the education industry as a lecturer. During her tenure with Limkokwing University, she was appointed as Programme Leader and Head of the Foundation for Business. In 2014, she joined a Scottish university as an Assistant Professor for Economics at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia, Putrajaya. During 4-year tenure, she was actively involved in teaching and assessment duties for economics-related modules offered in Foundation, Undergraduate and Post-graduate programmes at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia. She was also appointed as a member of the HWUM Academic University Council and a team member for the Cold Energy Project in the area of Economic and Societal Impacts study, a collaborative long-term research project for Heriot-Watt Malaysia, Heriot-Watt Edinburgh and University Technology Petronas. From 2018 until the present, she has been serving Xiamen University Malaysia as an Assistant Professor for Economics. In September 2020 she was appointed Deputy Head of the International Business Programme (IBU) in the School of Economics & Management. Her current research focus is on the area economic impacts in agricultural and tourism economics. Generally, her research focuses on the valuation of tourism benefits, economic impact analysis, multiplier model, cost-benefit analysis and economic impact assessment of tourism development projects as well as tourist behavioural studies. For the past 19 years as an academician, she has supervised students from various fields of study such as Marketing, Finance, and Accounting and Management at the Undergraduate level, Postgraduate Level and MBA. Professionally, Dr Faizah was a member of the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER) and a member of the International Society for Southeast Asian Agricultural Sciences. From 2019 to the present, she has been appointed as the LEO Club Advisor and XMUM Muslim Society for Xiamen University Malaysia. of
