Biography
Dr. Loh is a Senior Lecturer whose professional career encompasses academia, legal practice, research, and civic leadership.
Academic Experience
Dr. Loh was part of the founding team of Xiamen University Malaysia, joining the institution in June 2015 as its Legal Advisor to assist in preparatory development prior to the commencement of operations. Upon the university’s official launch in February 2016, he assumed a dual role as Senior Lecturer and Legal Advisor. Since March 2018, he has dedicated his tenure to full-time academia, continuing his service as a Senior Lecturer.
Prior to his appointment at Xiamen University Malaysia, Dr. Loh was engaged in various academic and research capacities across several institutions of higher learning. He held teaching positions at Universiti Putra Malaysia and two other universities, served as Head of the Centre for Law and Society, a university research centre, from June 2010 to January 2015, as well as an Adjunct Research Fellow at the Institute of International Economic Law, Xiamen University China, from 2010 to 2013.

- Chief Editor, Malaysian Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (2011-2014)
- Editorial Committee Member, Malaysian Journal of Chinese Studies (2012-2014)
Legal Experience
Dr. Loh is an Advocate and Solicitor (Non-Practising) having previously built extensive expertise in active legal practice from May 1995 to December 2009. He was the founder and Sole Proprietor of his own law firm for 12 years, having previously served as Legal Assistant at Messrs. Abraham Ooi & Partners, Selangor and Messrs. Tong Teck Yong & Associates, Kuala Lumpur.
Additionally, he has provided legal advisory services to more than 35 societies and institutions across Malaysia, and has served as a legal columnist for two major national newspapers. He has also provided specialized in-house training on Media Law to the editors and reporters of See Hua Daily News, Sarawak.
Civic Leadership & Public Affairs
Beyond his academic and legal career, Dr. Loh possesses an extensive background in public life, local governance, and community administration. His notable civic appointments and leadership roles include:
- Councillor, Subang Jaya Municipal Council, Selangor (MBSJ) (2006–2008)
- Civic & Community Leadership, serving in various elected and appointed capacities across multiple organizations as Central Delegate, Legal Bureau Chief, Director, Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, Vice-Secretary, Vice-Treasurer, and Committee Member.
