Biography
Dr. Chin joined the Education industry since 2001. Prior to joining the Education industry, Dr. Chin worked in the commercial and corporate world for approximately 10 years. Over her years in the corporate sector, she has been with a manufacturing firm for two years in the sales and administrative functions and subsequently she spent a total of 8 years in the banking industry, involved substantially in corporate planning, corporate restructuring activities, corporate loan advisory and financial consultation projects. She also handled portfolios of Corporate and Syndication Loans covering Multinational Corporations and Public Listed Companies. Her last position in the bank was Deputy Account Manager in Corporate Banking Division.
Dr. Chin holds a Bachelor of Sc (Resource Economics) with Honours from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 1990 under the scholarship from Public Service Department of Malaysia (JPA). In year 2000, she attained MBA (Finance specialization) qualification from UPM with the scholarship from Harvard Business School Alumni Club of Malaysia. Subsequently, in year 2010, Dr. Chin attained her Doctorate Degree in Business Administration from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). Her doctoral and post-doctoral area of interest and research are in SME Financing, Microfinance, Capital Market and Corporate Performance.
Dr. Chin joined XMUM as Senior Lecturer in 2017 and she was the Internship Coordinator for School of Economics and Management from 2018 to 2020. Prior to her current appointment in XMUM, Dr. Chin was the Head of Business School in Berjaya University College, an education arm under Berjaya Corporation Bhd for about 3 years. Before that, she was the Associate Professor in Faculty of Business, Communications and Law and Head of Post-Graduate Business Studies in INTI International University. She also served as an Adjunct Faculty member of Universiti Utara Malaysia for 2010-2011. She has been supervising and examining thesis work of post-graduate and undergraduate students in addition to writing and presenting in local and international conferences with numerous research-based papers published in journals/proceedings.
