Biography

Dr Chep Lee Lu Siang is currently an Assistant Professor at the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Xiamen University Malaysia. She is also a registered Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioner with the Ministry of Health Malaysia.

Since joining the school in 2021, she has been teaching core modules such as Gynecology of TCM and Chinese Materia Medica, emphasizing the integration of clinical practice with theoretical instruction. She advocates for students to not only master the foundational theories of Chinese materia medica, but also to develop a deep understanding of local medicinal herbs and their applications—aiming to nurture TCM professionals with both global perspectives and local competencies.

Her research focuses on the development of TCM in Southeast Asia, with particular emphasis on the tongue diagnosis characteristics across Malaysia’s multiethnic communities and the documentation and application of local herbal resources. As a dedicated advocate of maternal and child health, Dr. Lee actively engages in community service, public health lectures, and science outreach, promoting prenatal care and pediatric TCM practices at the grassroots level.
