Biography
Dr. Chua is the Head of the Artificial Intelligence Programme at the School of Electrical Engineering and Artificial Intelligence, Xiamen University Malaysia. He earned his PhD from Multimedia University in 2018. With over 12 years of experience in the software industry and 6 years of academic research, Dr. Chua has a diverse background spanning both practical and theoretical aspects of technology. In the software industry, Dr. Chua focused on delivering Business Analytics, Security Solutions, and E-commerce Software Systems, including Business-to-Business (B2B), Business-to-Consumer (B2C), and Consumer-to-Consumer (C2C) platforms. His contributions in this field have been instrumental in developing scalable and secure digital solutions. Dr. Chua’s academic research began in 2006 when he collaborated with researchers across Malaysia to develop Natural Language Processing (NLP) tools for the Malay language under the National Language Technology Research Cluster. His expertise lies in Natural Language Processing and Machine Translation, where he has contributed to advancing language technology in the region. Driven by a passion for education, Dr. Chua is committed to sharing his knowledge and experiences to inspire and nurture young talents. He aims to equip the next generation with the skills and mindset to make meaningful contributions to society and the global community.
