Q1: Can you talk about yourself?

I am Faisal Fareed Bukhari from Punjab, Pakistan. I am doing PhD in mathematics. My favourite hobby is reading books about mathematics, and my second-best hobby is playing games such as badminton. I also swim and work out in the gymnasium.

Q2: Why did you choose Xiamen University Malaysia?

There are two reasons behind choosing Xiamen University Malaysia. The first reason is that Malaysia is a peaceful country with beautiful scenery and a stable economy. The second reason, also the main reason, is the lecturers who have interviewed me - especially the head of my department, Dr. Lim Tau Shean.

Q3: What it is like to study at Xiamen University Malaysia?

Xiamen University Malaysia is an awesome university, as I thought before. Currently, I am cooperating with my supervisor on research, for which the environment of the university library and many e-library facilities are very useful.

There are many facilities nourishing my soul, my mental growth, and my extracurricular activities. For example, there is a prayer room for Muslims, some walking tracks fulfilled with beautiful scenery, a variety of food, a swimming pool, a gymnasium, and many other sports facilities. At night, the musical island is very beautiful as well.

I am very familiar with sports, and my favourites are badminton, gym and swimming. Here, these three facilities are all available in one building. The people here are also very nice - We have a team, supporting each other and playing together.

The staff are very polite and cooperative. As I am a new international student, many lecturers and management staff help me as if I were their own child.
Malaysia is a very beautiful country. I haven’t visited many places - the beauty of Xiamen University Malaysia doesn't allow me to go anywhere else.

Q4: Tell us your future plan!

People told me that I am God-gifted in teaching. Thus, after getting my degree of PhD, I plan to teach research students of master's level and make a good name in mathematics internationally.

Also, I want to make a name for my parents, who are my ideal and my love. I want them to feel proud of me and my country.
