SCDS Holds Second Coffee Talk to Strengthen Student-Lecturer Engagement
The School of Computing and Data Science (SCDS) Student Council organised its second Coffee Talk on 20 June 2025, moving to the larger B1-101 Multipurpose Hall to accommodate more participants. This edition saw increased faculty participation, with 22 lecturers, including senior academics and programme heads, joining the event.
Refreshments sponsored by the SCDS Department and Restea Café were served before the programme began. The event opened with remarks from Student Council President Justin Poh Jun Ian and Organising Chairperson Khoo Song Hui, followed by a group photo.
A two-hour consultation session allowed students to seek academic advice, discuss internship and Final Year Project (FYP) matters, and share feedback directly with lecturers. The open format encouraged active exchanges and strengthened student-lecturer connections.

New interactive games were introduced to make the event more engaging. In "Get to Know About Your Gen Z Students", students and lecturers teamed up to answer themed questions. "Get Ready to Strike a Pose!" added a lively element as mixed teams recreated poses displayed on screen, with prizes awarded to the fastest and most accurate teams.
Vice President Pang Yi closed the event by thanking participants and sharing upcoming Student Council initiatives. Feedback gathered from attendees highlighted the value of combining academic consultation with opportunities for informal interaction.
