Chinese Studies Faculty and Students Attend Memorial Ceremonies at Kwong Tong Cemetery
On 15 August 2024, Prof. Wang Xiaomei, Head of Department of Chinese Studies of XMUM, Dr. Koh Chong Wah and Dr. Gui Wei attended the ceremony in memorial of the Nanyang Volunteers and Malayan World War II Victims at Kuala Lumpur Kwong Tong Cemetery, together with 4 students from the department. The event drew participants from across the country as well from China.
Department of Chinese Studies Signs MoU with the Association of Kwong Tong Cemetery Management Kuala Lumpur
On 12 July 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was successfully signed between the Department of Chinese Studies, Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) and the Association of Kwong Tong Cemetery Management Kuala Lumpur, marking a significant milestone in expanding off-campus partnerships and internship opportunities for the department.
Three XMUM Alumni Selected for "China Studies Program" PhD Fellowships
Three alumni from Department of Chinese Studies of Xiamen University Malaysia have been selected for the 2024-2025 "China Studies Program" PhD Fellowships, heading to Peking University, Fudan University, and Nanjing University, to pursue their doctoral degrees. Launched by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation under China's Ministry of Education, “China Studies Program” collaborates with top Chinese universities and scholars to provide opportunities and support for young overseas researchers studying China-related topics in the humanities and social sciences.
XMUM Library Empowers Chinese Studies Students with Resource Exploration Event
In a bid to enrich the academic journey of Chinese Studies students, Xiamen University Malaysia Library organized its second Library Guided Tour and Online/Offline Resource-Sharing Event on 22 April, 2024.As requested by Assistant Professor Dr. Ooi Bee Peng for the research method class of Chinese Studies, the event aimed to familiarize students with the physical and digital resources available within the university's library.
2024 Conference on Malaysian Chinese Education and Language Inheritance Held at XMUM
The Conference on Malaysian Chinese Education and Language Inheritance was successfully concluded at Xiamen University Malaysia on April 20, 2024.Hosted by Department of Chinese Studies, Xiamen University Malaysia, this event was sponsored by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Malaysia and supported by the National Language Committee of China’s Overseas Chinese Language Research Center and Beijing Normal University’s Global Chinese Comparative Studies Center.
