XMUM Students Excel at 2022 Mathematical Contest in Modeling
A team of three XMUM students - Tang Jiacheng, Chen Xuanchu and Wang Shuhan - won Finalist Award at the 2022 Mathematical Contest in Modeling/Interdisciplinary Contest in Modelling (MCM/ICM), the most influential mathematical modeling contest in the world held by the Consortium of Mathematics and Its Application (COMAP).This year, eleven teams of XMUM undergraduate students participated in the contest, receving one Finalist award, two Honorable Mention awards and six Successful Participant awards.Below is a summary of awards and the winners:

Dr. Dulip Piyaratne Publishes in SCI Tier 1 Journal
Center for Postgraduate Studies and Research congratulates Associate Professor Dr. Dulip Piyaratne from XMUM Department of Mathematics for publishing a research article in Journal of Algebraic Geometry, an SCI Tier 1 journal under American Mathematical Society. This research has been conducted along with Prof. Georg Oberdieck from the University of Bonn and Prof. Yukinobu Toda from the University of Tokyo.

Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics (MAT) recently published their first volume of Unearthed Axis, a magazine by the students for the students. This magazine is run by MAT Student Council.

Malaysia’s Best Individual & Pair Performance in 2021 Simon Marais Mathematics Competition Offered by XMUM Students
In 2021 Simon Marais Mathematics Competition (East Division), the team from XMUM Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics won Malaysia’s top score in both the individual and the pair categories, while three XMUM participants entered the Top Quartile listing for the individual category. Prof. Teo Lee Peng from the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics served as the team’s advisor.

Department of Mathematics & Applied Mathematics Welcomes New Intake with Online Party
The Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics (MAT) welcomed the students of 2021/09 intake with a heartwarming online party on 2 October 2021.The event started with an opening speech by the Programme Coordinator, Prof. Teo Lee Peng, followed by the MAT Student Council Presidium, Liew Yi Qing and Li Chengyi.

XMU and XMUM Organize Joint Workshop on Mathematics
A Joint Workshop on Mathematics was organized by Xiamen University (XMU) and Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) on 10 July 2021, underlining the close connection between the parent university and the branch campus.Being the third workshop jointly organized by XMUM Department of Mathematics and XMU School of Mathematical Sciences, this event attracted over 100 attendees from XMU, XMUM and the public.
