3 XMUM Faculty Members Receive 2019 MOE Research Fund
Research Management Centre congratulates Dr. Ng Kim Hoong from School of Chemical Engineering, Dr. Kelvin Ooi Jian Aun from School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Dr. Teoh Hong Wooi from China-ASEAN College of Marine Sciences on receiving the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) 2019, awarded by the Ministry of Education (MOE) Malaysia. They are the second batch of successful FRGS applications submitted by Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) with a total allocated amount of RM 350,789.00.
Chemical Engineering Student Wins Second Prize in 14th “Challenge Cup” Competition of Fujian Province
Under the instruction of Dr. Ong Wee Jun, second-year chemical engineering student Ren Yijie won the second prize for his project, Research of Heterojunction Interfaces in Graphitic Carbon Nitride (g-C3N4)-based Metal Sulfide Photocatalysts for Energy Conversion in the 14th Challenge Cup “University Students’ Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition of Fujian Province”.
Dr. Ong Wee Jun Guest-Edits and Publishes in Tier-1 SCI Journal ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces
The Office of Research and Innovation congratulates Assistant Professor Dr. Ong Wee Jun for his role as the Lead Guest Editor for a special issue -- “Artificial Photosynthesis: Harnessing Materials and Interfaces for Sustainable Fuels” of ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, one of the world’s top ranked materials science journals (rank: 26/285, impact factor: 8.097). Dr. Ong was invited by the editor-in-chief of ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, Prof.
Solar Car Competition Fuels Students' Passion for Energy Science
A solar car competition was held at Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) on 27 March 2019, in which 6 groups of participants from New Energy and Sciences Programme (EGE) raced their mini solar-powered cars towards the finishing line.This competition is a part of Energy Innovation Laboratory, a course offered to third year EGE students in February semester. Under the guidance of course facilitators, students in 3-person groups were required to design and build solar-powered mini electric cars capable of travelling a short distance.
Dr. Ong Wee Jun Receives Materials Horizons 2018 Outstanding Paper Award
The Office of Research and Innovation congratulates Assistant Professor Dr. Ong Wee Jun from School of Energy and Chemical Engineering for receiving the inaugural “Materials Horizons 2018 Outstanding Paper" award on 15 April 2019. The award was reviewed and chosen by the journal's Editorial and Advisory Board members based on the scientific finding presented and potential future impact. The current impact factor of Materials Horizons is 13.183, ranking 14th out of 285 journals in the field of materials science.
XMUM Undergraduate Student Publishes in Q1-Indexed Journal as First Author
The Office of Research and Innovation congratulates second-year student Ren Yijie and Asst. Prof. Dr. Ong Wee Jun, both from the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering, on their success in publishing the paper entitled “Interfacial engineering of graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4)-based metal sulfide heterojunction photocatalysts for energy conversion: A review”, as first author and corresponding author, respectively.
