Prof. Dr. Ong Wee Jun & Team Featured on Small Frontispiece
The Research and Postgraduate Centre congratulates Loh Jian Yiing, Yap Feng Ming, and Prof. Dr. Ong Wee Jun from the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering (SECE) and the Centre of Excellence for NaNo Energy & Catalysis Technology (CONNECT) on their recent publication in Small, a peer-reviewed journal by Wiley (Q1, IF: 12.1). Their work was selected as the Frontispiece of the journal’s latest issue, highlighting its significance within the research community.
Chemical Engineering Students Visit ISF to Enhance Industry Understanding
On 23 May 2025, a group of 26 Chemical Engineering students from Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) visited Intercontinental Specialty Fats (ISF) Sdn. Bhd. in Dengkil as part of the CME443 Oils and Fats Technology course. The visit was organised by the XMUM-IChemE Student Chapter and led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Kua Yin Leng, the course convener.ISF Sdn. Bhd. is a company involved in the production of specialty fats and oils for the food industry. Established in 1980, it operates in more than 50 countries across six continents.
XMUM and MARDI Engage on Paddy Field Innovation
On 13 June 2025, a research delegation from Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM), led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Jian Ping from the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering, visited the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI) in Seberang Perai to explore potential collaboration in paddy field innovation and agricultural biotechnology.
Silver Prize Awarded to Students at International Innovation Competition 2025
The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre congratulates Zhang Shan, Hu Mengxiong, and their supervisor, Assistant Professor ChM Dr. Lai Sin Yuan - all from the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering - on winning Silver Prizes at the 2025 International Virtual Competition for Creative and Innovative Ideas (IVCCII).

XMUM Alumnus Shares Research on Sustainable Agriculture at Global IChemE Webinar
Yeow Teck Ann, a graduate of the Bachelor of Chemical Engineering programme at Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM), recently presented his research at a global webinar organised by the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE), a UK-based professional body for chemical engineers. He was joined by his supervisor, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Jian Ping from the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering (SECE), XMUM.
