XMUM Postgraduate Student Awarded WWF EFN Fellowship for Sustainable Food Waste Research
The Research and Postgraduate Centre congratulates Chew Zhi Ling, a postgraduate student from the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering, on receiving the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Education for Nature (EFN) Trudy Fellowship of USD 22,000, for her research in food waste valorization and novel food formulation.This grant will support her postgraduate studies and research for a period of 3 years (July 2023 – June 2026).
Dr. Tan Jian Ping & Team Publish in Journal of Environmental Chemical Engineering
The Research and Postgraduate Centre congratulates Tey Ker Yee and Asst. Prof. Dr. Tan Jian Ping from the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering for publishing an article “Current analysis on 1,3-propanediol production from glycerol via pure wild strain fermentation” in Journal of Environmental Chemical Engineering, a SCI Q1 journal with an impact factor of 7.7.
Ts. Dr. Vincent Woon and NESE Students Publish in Resources, Conservation and Recycling
The Research and Postgraduate Centre congratulates Phuang Zhen Xin, Kyle Sebastian Mulya, Hoy Zheng Xuan, and Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Vincent Woon Kok Sin from the Department of New Energy Science and Engineering, School of Energy and Chemical Engineering for their recent research article published in the Resources, Conservation and Recycling, an SCI Q1 journal with the latest impact factor of 13.2.

6 XMUM Academics Secure Research Funding by the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme 2023
The Research and Postgraduate Centre extends its congratulations to six XMUM academics who have secured the prestigious grants under the Ministry of Higher Education’s Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS). The six recipients, from School of Electrical Engineering & Artificial Intelligence, School of Energy & Chemical Engineering, China-ASEAN College of Marine Sciences, and School of Economics & Management, have collectively been awarded a total of RM 639,946.
Dr. Tan Jian Ping & Team Successfully Files Patent for the First MOSTI-Funded XMUM Project
Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre congratulates a team led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Tan Jian Ping at School of Energy and Chemical Engineering, Xiamen University Malaysia for successfully filing a patent application for their invention “Fluidized Bed Caged Immobilizer” (Patent File ID: PI2023001258). This project is funded by the inaugural funding from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) under the project code TDF07211418.
Dr. Haw Choon Yian Receives Private Education Excellence Awards 2023
The Research and Postgraduate Centre congratulates Assistant Professor Ts. Dr. Haw Choon Yian from the Department of New Energy Science and Engineering, School of Energy and Chemical Engineering, for being awarded “National Outstanding Young Educator” at the Private Education Excellence Awards 2023.
