NESE Master Students Unveil How Dielectric and Piezoelectric Boost Energy Generation in Triboelectric Nanogenerators

Triboelectric Nanogenerators (TENGs) have emerged as a promising and innovative technology to generate electricity from friction, with the advantage of low cost and high output voltage. Recently, a group of researchers from Xiamen University Malaysia revealed the untapped potential of TENGs by harnessing dielectric and piezoelectric properties of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) polymers.

XMUM received a courtesy visit from Sunway University on 2 June 2023, with the aim of promoting knowledge sharing in engineering programmes between institutions.The visit was led by Prof. Ir. Dr. Denny Ng, Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology, Sunway University. Among other delegates who attended the visit included Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr Matthew Teow, Program Leader of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, and Ms. Linda Tan, the Director of Facilities Services at Sunway Education Group.

Ts. Dr. Vincent Woon Receives MASA Policy Development Programme Research Grant

Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Vincent Woon Kok Sin from the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering has received an MASA Policy Development Programme (MPDP 2.0) research grant of RM 10,000, for his research on COVID-19’s impact on Malaysia’s carbon neutrality. Dr. Tan Jian Ding from the School of Electrical Engineering and Artificial Intelligence will also participate in this project.
