Biography

Liew was a practicing engineer who later became academia. He is currently the Assistant Dean of the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering and Director of Internal Quality Audit for Engineering Programmes at Xiamen University Malaysia. He is the current Associate Director of the Engineering Technology Accreditation Council (ETAC), and the former Associate Director of Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) from 2016 to 2020. He graduated from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia with a Ph.D. in Engineering Education. Since 2012, he has been involved in the accreditation of engineering degrees, engineering technology degrees, and engineering diploma programmes. He has given over 60 workshops and talks on accreditation, outcomes-based education (OBE), and complex engineering problem solving for/to the EAC, ETAC, universities, the Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education, Bangladesh, among others. He also serves as an external examiner for undergraduate programmes at several universities. He has over 12 years of teaching and academic experience, and managing engineering programmes as well as 12 years of industry experience.
