Prof. Ong Wee Jun Among World Top 0.05% Highly Ranked Scholars by ScholarGPS

ScholarGPS has released its 2025 Highly Ranked Scholars list, recognising the world’s top 0.05% of scientists based on research productivity, citation impact, and publication quality. Prof. Ong Wee Jun from the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering, Xiamen University Malaysia is listed in both the Lifetime ranking, placing 3rd in the graphitic carbon nitride category, and the Prior Five Years ranking, placing 4,431st across all fields.

ScholarGPS is a data-driven platform that provides rankings of scholars, institutions, and countries worldwide. It evaluates the academic impact of over 30 million scholars through comprehensive analyses of publications, citations (excluding self-citations), and research quality, using advanced artificial intelligence, data mining, and machine learning techniques.

The platform ranks scholars and 55,000 institutions across 14 fields, 177 disciplines, and more than 350,000 specialties based on research output, impact, and h-index.

Prof. Ong Wee Jun joined Xiamen University Malaysia in 2018 and currently serves as the Assistant Dean of the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering, as well as the Director of the Centre of Excellence for Nano Energy and Catalysis Technology (CONNECT). His research interests include nanomaterials for photo(electro)catalytic and electrochemical water splitting, CO₂ reduction, H₂O₂ synthesis, nitrate-to-ammonia conversion, alcohol oxidation and organic synthesis, as well as microwave plasma methane cracking for graphene and hydrogen production.
