Industry Expert Coaches XMUM Students in Entrepreneurship and Innovation
On Tuesday 9th October 2018, over eighty XMUM students attended the sharing sessions of this year’s innovation-themed road show and public talk series: “China Internet+ Competition – Theory Must Not Be Divorced from Practice.” This innovation-themed event was one of the activities for 2018 Overseas Entrepreneurship and Innovation Week, an initiative by National Development and Reform Commission of the People's Republic of China and China Association for Science and Technology, hosted by the Office of Research and Innovation, Xiamen University Malaysia.
XMUM Students Conduct Summer Research at China’s Top Universities
While the student traffic across Bandar Sunsuria was much lighter over the month of September (school break for XMUM undergraduates), three XMUM students spent their summer doing internship in research laboratories at China’s top universities, thanks to the facilitation and kind arrangement of Professor Ong Chong Kim. The research attachments aimed to help the students, all from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, to get hands-on experience and develop new scientific insights from world-renown laboratories.
Dr. Ong Wee Jun Publishes in Top Journal, Chem (Impact Factor 14)
The Office of Research and Innovation congratulates Assistant Professor Dr. Ong Wee Jun on his role as the joint first and corresponding author of a paper entitled “Surface and Heterointerface Engineering of 2D MXenes and Their Nanocomposites: Insights into Electro- and Photocatalysis.” The paper was published on 27th September 2018 in Chem, which is one of the world’s top-ranked multidisciplinary chemistry journals (rank: 9/171). Chem, that has the latest impact factor of 14.104, is a sister journal to Cell Press’s flagship journal, Cell.
University of Queensland Representatives Share Further Study Options with XMUM Students
Ms Maj Coop, University of Queensland (UQ) Regional Manager of Southeast Asia for the Faculty of Business, and Ms Wai Yen Chan, UQ Country Manager for Malaysia and Brunei, visited XMUM on 2 October 2018 to introduce various further study options to interested XMUM students. Ranking number 1 in South East Asia and 16th in the world, the University of Queensland Faculty of Business offers a variety of postgraduate programme. Among the programmes are Economics, Business, Entrepreneurship, Management, Finance, Commerce.
869 New Students Join XMUM in October 2018
869 new students joined the undergraduate programmes of Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) and started their academic journey on 1 October 2018.The total number of students at XMUM has now reached 4,050, including over 40% international students from 22 different countries and regions, such as China, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Egypt, Zambia, Turkmenistan, Korea, Yemen, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Japan, Myanmar, Syria, Kazakhstan, India, Pakistan, Algeria, Somalia, Tajikistan.
XMUM Research Publication in Nanoscale – A Tier-1 SCI Journal
The Office of Research and Innovation congratulates Associate Professor Dr. Zhang Ying on her role as one of the corresponding authors of a publication entitled “Ultrafine Mo-doped SnO2 nanostructure and derivative Mo-doped Sn/C nanofibers for high-performance lithium-ion batteries.” The paper was published on 28 August 2018 (vol. 10 and pages 17378-17387) in Nanoscale, a high impact, peer reviewed journal publishing experimental and theoretical work across the breadth of nanoscience and nanotechnology.
