Engineer - IT Office (Network Services Level 2)
Role and Key Responsibilities
Managing campus network infrastructure and also serving as Level 2 support for network-related incidents, while regularly sharing technical knowledge with Level 1 network support teams.
a. Network Infrastructure Management
Be responsible for the daily monitoring, configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting of the campus wired network (core/aggregation/access switches) and wireless network (wireless controllers, APs).
Manage campus perimeter and internal firewall policies to ensure network access security.
Configure and maintain SSL/IPsec VPNs to provide secure and reliable remote access for faculty and students.
b. Network Management System Operation
Configure, manage, and optimize network monitoring systems (e.g., Zabbix, Nagios, SolarWinds), network authentication systems (e.g., Radius), IP Address Management systems (IPAM), etc.
Conduct performance analysis, capacity planning, and generate operational reports through network management systems.
c. Network Security and Compliance
Implement network security policies, conduct regular security vulnerability scans, risk assessments, security hardening.
Participate in the monitoring, analysis, emergency response, and handling of network security incidents.
Assist in completing Multi-Level Protection Scheme (MLPS) assessments and other relevant compliance tasks.
d. Operations and Support:
Serve as Tier-2 technical support, handling complex network failures and technical challenges.
Develop and maintain network topology diagrams, configuration documentation, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Collaborate with vendors and partners to complete equipment maintenance, technical upgrade projects, etc.
Knowledge sharing with Tier-1 support for normal network issue handling.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Communications, or related fields.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in managing large or medium-sized network operations. Experience in campus networks, enterprise networks, or data center networks is preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, with a solid understanding of networking protocols and technologies such as OSPF, BGP, VLAN, STP.
- Hands-on configuration and management experience with mainstream network equipment (e.g., Huawei, H3C, Cisco, Aruba). Relevant vendor certifications (e.g., HCIP, CCNP, or equivalent) are highly preferred.
- Familiar with the technical principles and configuration of firewalls (e.g., Sangfor, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Hillstone) and VPNs.
- Practical experience in the operation and maintenance of network monitoring/management systems.
- Understanding of common network attack methods and protective measures, with basic ability to handle network security incidents.
- Familiar with automation scripting or tools like Python, Ansible, with practical experience in network automation.
- Possession of network security certifications (e.g., CISP, CISSP, Security+).
- Good project management and cross-departmental communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong logical analysis and complex problem-solving abilities.
- High sense of responsibility, meticulous work ethic, and ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent service orientation, teamwork spirit, and documentation habits.
- Language Skills: Proficiency in English and Mandarin is an added advantage
