XMUM Signs MoU with the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia

Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM), allowing students from Chemical Engineering programme and Electrical and Electronics Engineering programme to network with engineers from IEM, being exposed to the professional engineering field through lectures, courses, forums, talks, seminars and other events.

The event was held at Xiamen University Malaysia on 6 September 2022. Ir. Prof. Dr. Norlida bt Buniyamin, President of IEM and Prof. Wang Ruifang, President of XMUM signed the MoU on behalf of the two institutes.

In line with the MoU, collaborative research and consultancy activities will be conducted in the future, while the IEM-XMUM student section will be established to provide students with a platform for professional growth.

“To nurture talented professionals, IEM, a society promoting and advancing the science and profession of engineering in all disciplines, deemed to be a good collaborator,” said Prof. Wang Ruifang, “Through the signing up of MoU between XMUM and IEM, the engineering students of XMUM will be able to connect and build network with engineers from IEM.”

Other attendants of the ceremony include Ir. Prof Dr. Tan Chee Fai, Vice President of IEM; Ir. Simon Yeong Chin Chow, Council Member cum CA Deputy Chair; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zhang Ying, Vice President of XMUM; Prof. Chen Binghui, Dean of School of Energy and Chemical Engineering and Prof. Wang Han, Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering & Artificial Intelligence.
