XMUM Signs MOA with Victoria University of Wellington

Prof. Grant Guilford, Vice-Chancellor of Victoria University of Wellington (VUW), New Zealand, and Prof. Wang Ruifang, President of Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM), signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between VUW and XMUM on 1 April 2019.

The purpose of the MOA is to broaden the scope of academic curricula, to provide a unique learning experience, and to enhance educational opportunities for students from both universities. It also aims to promote mutual understanding and cooperation between the two institutions. The highlights in the agreement about the postgraduate pathway include:

1.Eligibility to admit into VUW postgraduate programmes with a GPA of 2.7 and above.

2.10% to 15% fee waiver for XMUM students.

3.English Proficiency Requirements:

IELTS: 6.5 with no sub-score below 6.0

TOEFL: 90 or better for the internet-based test (with 20 or better in writing)

Pearson Test of English (PTE): 65 or better (with Communicative score of not less than 58)

English Proficiency Programme VUW (EPP VUW): minimum final scores of 4,4,5,5

At the signing ceremony, Prof. Guilford expressed his gratitude for the partnership and his hope for more areas of collaborations. “I can see a big future for this relationship,” said Prof. Guilford. Prof. Wang, echoing his words, suggested that XMUM will be creative and innovative in this matter so that more collaboration can take place between the two universities.
