XMUM Hosts delegate from Washington University in St. Louis for Lecture and Collaboration Talks

On 6 May 2026, Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) welcomed Dr. Grace Johnson, Associate Director of Graduate Studies for the Master’s Program in Economics from Washington University in St. Louis (WashU), for an academic lecture and institutional meeting aimed at exploring potential future collaboration.

The event began with a lecture titled “Economics Education for the Modern World”, during which Dr. Grace Johnson highlighted how AI has transformed the way economists study the world. She emphasized that modern economists must master a combination of traditional economic theory, data science, and AI literacy to adapt to today's rapidly evolving landscape. Following the lecture, Dr. Grace conducted an information session introducing Washington University in St. Louis and its Master's degree program in Economics, providing XMUM students with insights into graduate study opportunities at WashU.

A meeting was then held to discuss potential institutional partnerships. Both sides agreed to continue further communication regarding the proposed collaborations, with the goal of establishing a sustainable and mutually beneficial framework for academic cooperation.

Washington University in St. Louis is one of the leading research institutions in the world. Founded in 1853, the university has a long history of pioneering achievements and a reputation for academic excellence. It is frequently recognized as a "New Ivy" and a leading institution in STEM and professional fields.
