University of Missouri-Kansas City Shares Postgraduate Information

On 5 April 2019, Prof. Kevin Z. Truman, Vice Provost for International Affairs, University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC), visited Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) to meet with President Prof. Wang Ruifang. During the meeting, Prof. Truman mentioned some special privileges that XMUM students can enjoy when applying for UMKC postgraduate program, which include: 

  1. Scholarship
    1. Dean’s International Scholar Award (automatic and renewable): $4,000 per semester for master’s international students from partner schools. 
      $2.5 million scholarships are set aside to award students from School of Computing and Engineering
      $1 million scholarships are set aside for students from Henry W. Bloch School of Management every year.
  2. Internship
    1. Students can work 10-20 hours per week for Spring and Fall semester and 40 hours per week for Summer semester.
      There are about 250+ engineering and computing firms in Kansas City where student can do (e.g.: IBM, Cisco, Google, DST, etc.) internship.
  3. Summer Programme - Summer Practice Programme
    1. Students can earn a Certificate in Software Tools after completing the 2-week programme at UMKC. 
      The knowledge can be gained includes HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and SMART on FHIR (i.e. design a software project useing open-source SMART on FHIR). Students’ final projects will be presented to UMKC faculty and Cerner software engineers. 

Special Consideration for Master’s Programme Admission 

TOEFL/IELTS and GRE are waived. 

Students can be admitted with a GPA of 3.0 and above during undergraduate studies.
