Professor Dr Huang Nay Ming Received the 2016 Malaysia’s Rising Star Award

Published on December 18, 2017

The Office of Research and Innovation congratulates Professor Dr Huang Nay Ming of the New Energy Science and Engineering Programme, Xiamen University Malaysia, on receiving the 2016 Malaysia’s Rising Star Award (MRSA), presented by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), in partnership with Clarivate Analytics. MRSA is awarded to a select group of influential Malaysian researchers for their significant contributions to global science. Their research articles, published in scholarly journals indexed in Web of Science, have been highly cited and recognized by their peers worldwide. This is based on the citation data of their published papers tracked and benchmarked by InCites and Essential Science Indicators, two Clarivate Analytics tools.

MOHE presented each MRSA recipient with a special research grant (Geran Sanjungan Penyelidikan). Professor Dr Huang’s grant of RM230,000 will enable him to investigate the function of free-standing graphene-based nanocomposite paper for air and water permeability. The graphene paper will be used as a membrane for the development of desalination or water purification and air filtration. Furthermore, the electrochemical properties of the graphene paper will be explored specifically for the Li-ion battery targeting high energy density for electric vehicles.
