TCM Lecturers Enhance Teaching Techniques through PBL Workshop

On 26 August 2024, the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Xiamen University Malaysia hosted a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) workshop to enhance the teaching techniques and approaches used in small group learning environments, with a particular focus on PBL facilitation.

Led by Dr. Koh Rhun Yian from IMU University and facilitated by the Adjunct Senior Lecturer of XMUM, Dr. Hea Ai Sim, the event drew the participation of Dr. Kim Yun Jin, the Head of Programme (HOP) of the School of TCM, as well as Dr. Tan Hong Yien, Dr. Lim Chee Hoong, Dr. Wong Guo Lin, Dr. Chep Lee Lu Siang, Mr. Ng Huck Hai, and Dr. Too Seng Hee. 

Dr. Chen Shaodong, the Dean of School of TCM, and Mr. Heu Bor Wei participated online.

Participants engaged in an interactive session, exploring the key components of PBL, such as critical thinking, self-directed learning, and collaborative problem-solving. The workshop emphasized the importance of the facilitator's role in guiding students to independently discover solutions, fostering a deeper understanding of the subject matter.

The lecturers engaged in an interactive session to discuss Problem-Based Learning (PBL).

Attendees left the workshop with valuable insights on effectively implementing PBL in their teaching practices, which will undoubtedly contribute to the continuous improvement of educational quality within the School.
