XMUM Students Shine at Huawei ICT Competition Malaysia

Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) achieved notable results at the Huawei ICT Competition Malaysia 2025-2026, securing a total of six awards, including two Grand Prizes in the Computing Track and Cloud Track. 

The award ceremony was held on 1 December 2025 at Courtyard by Marriott Kuala Lumpur South, officiated by the Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Higher Education, YBhg. Datuk Ts. Dr. Mohd Nor Azman bin HassanThe event highlighted the role of industry-recognised programmes in strengthening ICT talent development in Malaysia.

XMUM received the top national honours in both tracks. The Computing Track Grand Prize was awarded to Meng Zijian, Wai Pui Shan, and Wong Wan Ning, under the supervision of Dr. Toa Chean Khim. The Cloud Track Grand Prize went to Wu Haoren, Li Haocong, and Ge Hanwen, with Dr. Dilshani Hansika Mallikarachchi as their supervisor. 

In addition, XMUM also achieved the Cloud Track Third, awarded to Chuah Wen Fong, Dillon Nicholas, and Chen Yanpeng, supervised by Dr. Lee Sui Ping

In recognition of institutional and instructional contributions, XMUM was awarded the Outstanding ICT Academy Award 2025. Dr. Lee Sui Ping and Dr. Toa Chean Khim were also conferred the Most Dedicated Instructor Award 2025.

XMUM first participated in the Huawei ICT Competition in 2024, recording nine national-level finalist and award placements. In 2025, the university reported over 900 active learners registered with the Huawei ICT Academy, covering training areas such as cloud computing, networking, and computing. As part of its collaboration with Huawei, XMUM also organised a student visit to Huawei Intelligent World 2035 (Huawei Intelligent Day 2035).
