AOGS Best Student Poster Award Won by XMUM Students
Research Management Center congratulates five XMUM undergraduate students from China-ASEAN College of Marine Sciences, XMUM (Zhou Tianyu, Shao Zhibo, Lin Weihong, Chen Jiarui and Zhou Muzhi) for winning the Best Poster Award in the Ocean Sciences Section at the annual meeting of Asia Oceania Geosciences Society (AOGS), which was held in Singapore from 28 July to 2 August 2019. The title of the poster is “Impacts of Relative Vorticity on Critical Latitude Effects on Internal Tides, Waves, and Mixing”.
Xiamen University Research Vessel Tan Kah Kee Open Ship Days Successfully Held
The Open Ship Days on board Research Vessel Tan Kah Kee (R/V TKK) was successfully held at Boustead Cruise Center, Port Klang, Malaysia on 17 & 18 August. Organized by Xiamen University (XMU), Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) and China-ASEAN College of Marine Sciences (CAMS), this is the first time that a Chinese scientific research vessel opens to the Malaysian public free of charge.
XMUM Co-Organizes the 3rd South China Sea Conference
During 24 to 28 June 2019, China-ASEAN College of Marine Sciences, Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) co-organized the 3rd South China Sea Conference (SCS 2019) with the Institute of Ocean and Earth Sciences (IOES), University of Malaya (UM) and the First Institute of Oceanography (FIO) of the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) China. Held at Eastin Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, this conference provided a fruitful platform for discussion and exchange related to research activities in the South China Seas and promoted academic cooperation among marine scientists all over the world.
2018 Marine Biology & Biotechnology Summer Exchange Program Held at XMUM
An exchange program between Xiamen University China (XMU) and Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) focusing on Marine Biology and Biotechnology was held from 28 July to 4 August 2018. During the exchange, a total of 15 students and 3 instructors from College of Ocean & Earth Sciences, XMU were hosted by staff and students of China-ASEAN College of Marine Sciences (CAMS) at XMUM. Staff and students from both campuses interacted closely during the exchange program and collaborated in a range of learning activities.
XMUM Delegation Visited Universiti Malaysia Terengganu to Explore Academic Cooperation
Upon the invitation of the Vice Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), Prof. Dato’ Dr. Nor Aieni, XMUM President Prof. Wang Ruifang led a delegation to visit UMT on 15 August 2017.Other members of the XMUM delegation consist of Dr Zhang Ying, Assistant President of XMUM, Prof. Ni I-Hsun, Chairman of Marine Biotechnology Programme, and Ms Li Xiaowen, PA to President.
