Biography

Dr. Chew Sook Chin is a lecturer at the China-ASEAN College of Marine Sciences, Xiamen University Malaysia. Her PhD research focused on the nutritional biochemistry and refining of a novel edible plant oil – kenaf seed oil, with applications in functional product development. Her current research focuses on harnessing microalgae and marine-derived bioactives for sustainable functional product development, with applications in cosmeceuticals, biomedicine, and carbon capture. She has actively published in peer-reviewed journals, presented her research at conferences, and served as a reviewer for academic journals. Driven by a passion for inspiring the next generation, Dr. Chew is dedicated to helping students build the skills and knowledge essential for success both in university and beyond. She believes that academic knowledge and qualifications alone are not enough to stand out; students must also cultivate critical soft skills to thrive in their personal and professional lives.
