His inspiring life story and achievements deeply resonated with students and staff in attendance.
Distinguished guest, Prof. Xue Xiongzhi, Dean of Fujian Institute for Sustainable Oceans at Xiamen University, also shared stories about Prof. Chua and how Chua, together with his UN colleagues, supported Xiamen City in integrated coastal management from 1990s, greatly contributing to the improvement of city’s habitability.
During the ceremony, CAMS Prof. Low Pak Sum, a former United Nations officer, actively engaged in the session by raising thoughtful questions and sharing words of encouragement, further inspiring staff and students through his own distinguished journey.
A meaningful Book Donation Ceremony was also held, during which Prof. Chua generously donated 200 copies of his memoir, “From Rural Beginnings to a United Nations Official: Challenges and Opportunities”, providing valuable learning resources and inspiration for the university community.
CAMS Deputy Dean Prof. Dr. Luo Yawei expresses his sincere appreciation to Profs. Chua and Xue for their visit, wisdom, and contributions. Their journeys, dedication, and service continue to inspire the next generation of scholars to pursue excellence and contribute meaningfully to society.
