XMUM Hosts Successful Speedcubing Event
On 10 September 2023, 99 speedcubers from all around the world gathered at B1#101, Xiamen University Malaysia, to compete in XMUM Cube Open 2023.

Competitive speedcubing is a sport that involves solving a Rubik's cube or other twisty puzzles as quickly as possible. This competition was organised by XMUM Rubik’s Club, and officially sanctioned under the WCA (World Cube Association) with the support of the Malaysia Cube Association (MYCA).

For XMUM Cube Open 2023, competitors competed in seven different events, which are: 3x3x3 Cube, 2x2x2 Cube, 4x4x4 Cube, 3x3x3 One-Handed, 3x3x3 Blindfolded, Skewb and Pyraminx.
At the end of the day, Yiheng Wang, a 9-year-old speedcuber from China, who is also the current world record holder for the 3x3x3 Cube average, won the main event of the competition - 3x3x3 Cube - with an average of 4.97 seconds. The top three competitors for each event received a medal and a sponsored prize from MoYu Culture.
5 XMUM students also competed in the event. David Chong Kai Xiang, a New Energy Science and Engineering student, won third place in 3x3x3 Cube Blindfolded with a best single of 1 minute and 49.93 seconds.
