Prof. Zheng Jincheng Publishes in Research

2022-08-18

The Center for Postgraduate Studies and Research congratulates Prof. Zheng Jincheng, the Director of XMUM Innovation Center, for the recent research article published in Research.

Research ranks 10th among 73 journals in the multidisciplinary category of Web of Science with a latest impact factor of 11.036.

Entitled “Asymmetrical Transport Distribution Function: Skewness as a Key to Enhance Thermoelectric Performance, the article investigated the relationship between the parameters of transport distribution functions (TDFs) including location parameter, scale parameter, shape parameter and thermoelectric properties. The results showed that the asymmetry of TDF, characterized by skewness, is a more general and universal parameter to capture the trend of thermoelectric power, power factor as well as the dimensionless thermoelectric figure of merit (ZT). The author also proposed a novel skewness, called thermoelectric skewness, which is demonstrated to not only perfectly capture the main feature of conventional skewness but also predict accurately the thermoelectric power by comparing it with ab initio calculations and experiments. This comparison confirms the unique feature of the new proposed thermoelectric skewness, as well as its special role in the connection between the statistics of TDF and thermoelectric properties of materials.

The comparison of thermoelectric skewness and conventional skewness to Seebeck coefficient (thermoelectric power) using shifted Gaussian TDF. The conventional skewness has been scaled by 0.12.

Prof. Zheng Jincheng is a professor of physics at Xiamen University (China) and the Director of Innovation Center at Xiamen University Malaysia. He has supervised over 20 postgraduate students to date. With an H-index of 44 (based on Google Scholar), Prof. Zheng has published more than 170 peer-reviewed articles in SCI journals with a total citation of over 6,700.
