Center for Postgraduate Studies and Research (CPSR) congratulates undergraduate student Wu Minfeng from XMUM School of Electrical Engineering and Artificial Intelligence on his publication in Sustainability, as both the first and the corresponding author.
In the article “Forecast of Electric Vehicle Sales in the World and China Based on PCA-GRNN”, Wu Minfeng has contributed to the software, formal analysis, investigation and the writing of the manuscript. Dr. Wen Chen from College of Ocean Information Engineering, Jimei University, is the article’s advisor cum co-researcher.
Sustainability is a cross-disciplinary journal for studies related to sustainability and sustainable development, with the latest impact factor of 3.251.
This research discusses a model to predict the sales volume and increase the rate of Electric Vehicles (EVs) in the world and in China, using both statistics and machine learning methods. The results indicate that there will be a continuing growth in the sales of EVs in the coming eight years, but the sales increase rate is slowly and continuously decreasing because of the persistent growth of the basic sales volume. It also shows that the increase rate of EVs’ sales in China is higher than that of the world and that the proportion of EVs’ sales in China will be above 50% in 2025. As a result, large accessory facilities for EVs are required in China in the coming years.
“I was excited to work on the project and felt really joyful when I finished the writing. This project took me weeks of time to finish, during which I have made an incredible effort on it. I gained a deeper understanding of the usage of MATLAB as all the programming was done there,” said Wu Minfeng.
