October 7, 2025 (Tuesday), 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm B1-207
Zheng Bo
Professor
Yunnan University/Zhejiang University
Research interests: Non-equilibrium statistical physics, Computational physics, socio-economic physics, and complex system.
Speaker Introduction
Prof. Zheng took a distinguish professorship in Zhejiang University in 2001, and received a National Outstanding Youth Fund in 2003. He was appointed the Head of Physics Department of Zhejiang University from 2010 to 2017, and the Chair of School of Physics and Astronomy of Yunan University from 2020 to 2023. His research interests mainly include non-equilibrium statistical physics, computer simulation science, socio-economic physics and complex systems. He has published more than 140 papers in international SCI journals, and the total number of citations is about 5,000.
Abstract
We first briefly review the history of data science, and then introduce
some research topics of data science in physics, including machine
learning. The main content of the talks is data science in finance,
with focus on econo-physics and our recent research progress. We
show how to analyze data in complex financial systems and explore
the general characteristics, in particular, based on the spatio
temporal correlation functions; how to derive the driving forces of the
price dynamics from big-data with methods in statistical physics, and
how to construct efficient investment strategies in financial markets.
